Tuesday-Day 2 (A Week in my Work Wardrobe)

This was my look for work today (minus the sunnies and the angry pouty face!) This is one of my favourite looks due to comfort, colour and the mix of textures. Oxblood was a real favourite trend of mine from A/W '12 and I just haven't been able to stray away from it since! I love to mix burgundy items with leather look leggings, camouflage prints and denim. I'm not the biggest fan of the pastels and florals that are all over the high street right now for Spring (it's just not me!) and prefer to stick to my usual rock chick/grunge looks. It may be Spring but I think for now I will be sticking to the dark side :-)

Monday-Day 1 (A Week in my Work Wardrobe )

Today I was feeling in a monochrome mood for work so styled up a Ramones tee with a black skater skirt, black tights and black leather cut out boots. A gorgeous neon statement necklace came in the delivery last week and I had been debating about whether to buy it all week, but today I decided I needed it in my life :-) It also gives a colour pop to my outfit!

A Week in my Work Wardrobe

At my work place New Look, we dress in current New Look stock and act as walking mannequins. This helps to showcase the store's latest stock and trends to our customers and can give them an idea of how to dress particular items.
So I thought why not blog my work wardrobe for a week? And see if I can stay as current as possible? (It is very easy to stray back to old favourites when in a rush for work in the morning!!)
Starting tomorrow I will upload photographs and details of my daily outfits.

Watch this space!

Monochrome Mania

I just wanted to take a moment to gush about my love for this seasons monochrome trend. I used to think of monochrome as just plain and boring, the symbol of office outfits. That is until I saw the models descend the escalators at the Louis Vuitton S/S '13 show. I instantly wanted to be a Vuitton girl, all bouffant hair, flicked eyeliner and legs for decades in checkerboard mini dresses. Alas I don't quite have the legs to be strutting about in a bum skimming outfit, so I have embraced the trend in my own way....
Pictured below are my favourite monochrome pieces that I have purchased recently. My favourite way to wear the trend is by choosing one of these items and pairing it with black. For example the striped leggings with an oversized black tee or the striped shirt with black leather look leggings. I also love a bit of nail art (over 30 bottles of Barry M varnish and counting!) so I attempted a monochrome nail look, inspired by blogger Sara Luxe when she attended LFW earlier this year.
Monochrome is easily my favourite trend of the moment and I am glad to hear it is here to stay for A/W '13,

Queen Delevingne

In my spare time I love drawing and painting, especially portraits of celebrities and popular figures. This is my most recent drawing of model of the moment Cara Delevingne. The reaction I received on Facebook when I posted the drawing was amazing! I was so pleased considering it only took my a couple of hours! My plan over the next few weeks is to collate a portfolio of portraits of motorbike riders. This is in preparation for the TT motorbike races which take place on the island in June.

An Introduction

So I guess I should introduce myself!

My name is Holly, I am 24 years young and live on the tiny rock that is the Isle of Man (for those who are unsure of it's location, it is the small dot on the weather map in between the UK and Ireland, and the home of the TT races!)
I have a degree in Fine Art and am hugely passionate about the creative industries. I love creating art, visiting and volunteering at galleries. Two years ago I decided to take my artistic knowledge onto the next level. I trained to be a Secondary School Art teacher but since then my passions have lead me in another career direction. Those passions are for fashion!!
I discovered my love of fashion and the industry whilst studying at university. I now work in fashion retail at New Look, with hopes of becoming a visual merchandiser. I am OBSESSED with the 90's Grunge revival. Anything covered in studs, skulls or crosses, I either have it or want it! Day to day you can mostly find me in a beanie, an oxblood or grey marl baggy tee and leather look leggings. My signature blood red lippy adorns my face-usually smudged from talking too much!

So thats a small introduction to me. I have wanted to start a blog for such a long time but to be honest.....was a bit scared!! But in the end I thought why not give it a go-what better place to log my life, thoughts and loves :-)

Thanks for reading,
